| BACKGROUND |
Hotel Management Training is a part of Hashoo Foundations' regular training program. With the inclusion of the new Life Skills Training components, it will be carried on for a long time to come. In the years to come there is a great scope for employment in the hospitality sector. One 5 start hotel is opening in nine months, another is opening in two years time and will be opening its apartments in about five years time. Hashoo Foundation has a Human Development Resource Center in Rawalpindi which is fully staffed to handle this and other trainings. Also, due to its long term commitment with Hashoo Group of Hotels, hands on training will be a regular component. Hashoo Foundation generates income through fee from this and other trainings and Hashoo Group also contributes in terms of volunteer trainers and bearing expenses of hands on training. Both the training courses are three months in duration. The strategy will be: advertisement, short listing, test and interviews. Classes through Life Skills Training: development of resumes and submission to placement cell, regular assessments, presentations, hands on training in a specialized department, certification. The trainees will be tracked and regularly informed of opportunities available in the hospitality sector. Trainings will be announced through advertisement every two months. The applications will be short listed followed by an entry test and interview. Each batch will be given orientation and a resource kit for reference. During the theoretical training, volunteer trainers will conduct activity based sessions on Hotel Management & Life Skills Training. The English & ICT instructors will also take classes. The trainees will go through several assessments during this short but intensive training; quizzes, presentations, tests and at the end of the month a final exam will be taken followed by a viva. Before entry into the hotels for hands on training, the trainees will once again be interviewed by a panel, including HRD managers from the Hashoo Group of Hotels to assess their entry into a specialized course. At hands on training, the trainees will first go through a three day orientation on the policies, rules, gender sensitivity orientation & standards of the hotels. They will then be assigned departments. Each trainee will be partnered up with a senior, so as to enhance learning. The trainees will be informed of the availability of mentors within the premises. The trainees will be provided with skilled supervision, uniforms and food. At the end of their training they will go through an evaluation by their supervisors. Theoretical and hands on training scores will be added to define their grade which will be printed on their certificates.
