SUMMARY
Umeed-e-Noor intends to provide the infrastructure and support necessary to meet the needs of special children, including a residential facility for them. Particular emphasis is placed on aiding children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds; early intervention services for babies and young children; programs that integrate all aspects of learning, including language, cognition, motor, self-help socialization and play skills; vocational and life skills training for special children; counseling and support services for parents; and raising awareness about special children in the community as a whole.

Umeed-e-Noor (UEN) is one of the important programs of Hashoo Foundation focused to meet the needs of special children. It has been providing boarding lodging and appropriate therapy facilities to disabled children and improving their life skills through vocational and occupational trainings. It delivers relief and rehabilitation services to the special children through highly trained, committed and skilled professionals. Currently, UEN is providing services in a rented building which is constrained of space to accommodate more students/new enrollments. About 500 children have been enlisted waiting for admission at UEN.

BACKGROUND
Health professionals and volunteers from national, international agencies and foreign embassies served with time, knowledge and provided financial contribution to purchase equipments and instruments to benefit the special children. Currently, UEN is providing services in a rented building which is constrained of space to accommodate more students

PROGRESS UPDATES
June 2009

Implementation Period: 07/08/08 - Present


- Construction work for the basement and ground floor (including boundary walls, plastering and flooring) has been completed. UEN is expected to move into its new premises by end of May 2009.
